Dieting is never easy. For anyone.
Back in the day, my diet was very poor. I gained weight like crazy and it wasn’t because I ate all the time. Ugh it would get so annoying when talking about losing weight, I was told by different people to not eat so much or make my portions smaller…. Listen…. I may have been bigger most of my life but it’s not because of how much I ate! I’m sure you have heard of the show My Big Fat Fabulous Life with Whitney Thore?
I love this show and I love this chick!!! I can connect with her in many ways. She has PCOS which is one of the causes of her gaining weight, I also have PCOS that causes me to gain weight easily and it’s so hard to lose it. The other thing we have in common is that our diets were the same. We don’t sit there and stuff our faces, a common disbelief of heavier people. Instead we did the opposite and we never ate, but once a day. We did not know at the time that doing so did the opposite of what we thought it would do.
Here is the thing. When you don’t eat all day and then just eat dinner your body holds on to every little bit that you eat because it knows you won’t be eating for awhile and this in turn makes you gain weight. Add that to PCOS and not only do you gain weight but you gain more of it and fast. You can be active all day long, it doesn’t always help.
Once I decided to loose weight, I knew it was time to get my eating habits on point. That means working my way up to eating at least 3 meals a day and then adding some snacks in there. Once I was able to do that, it would then be time to make what we were eating healthy. So we started buying organic food from Sprouts. That was working really well, so recently we stepped that up to having salads for dinner. That worked really well until all I was having was salads. lol Salad for lunch and salad for dinner. You get tired of the same thing all the time. So the past 2 weeks, I’ve been cheating. I found these amazing cookies from Sprouts and we started having cookies every night and then I would suggest us go out to eat instead of salads.
Well I didn’t gain any weight or go up in inches which was good cause I was actually pretty nervous about weigh in. So it was nice to know that even when I mess up on my diet, I can still manage to not gain.
My grandmother would say “The good thing about diets is you can always start again tomorrow.” Well I would say that’s true. We can all make mistakes and dieting is not easy, but even when we mess up, we can always start again tomorrow. Which is what I plan to do, but this time I’m going to mix it up with a protein and a side.
Don’t give up on yourself.
When I started this journey technically 2 years ago, I weighed in over 300 lbs for the 2nd time in my life. The first time I lost weight but my body wasn’t ready and my back went out on me and I gained the weight back. The second time around I did a few 5k’s but again my body started fighting back at me, but that time i was able to keep off the weight I lost. Then while moving to Kansas I gained back 10 lbs and we really upset.
So mom and I joined the gym and started seeing a trainer. We started out once a week and went up to twice a week and now we are going 3 times a week, plus we do water aerobics a couple of times a week.
I knew I was seeing results but not much until I started taking It Works supplements and made even better eating choices and now I am all in weight loss mode. It is paying off!!!!
Our trainer took some videos of us working hard and I was so bummed seeing how big my stomach still looked and was feeling defeated. Even though I saw the numbers come down on the scale and on the measuring tape but I couldn’t see it in pictures. Well tonight I did a before and after picture and it finally opened my eyes to how far I have come in this journey. So here we go….
Here is before the weight loss journey at 305 lbs and here is now at 269 lbs!!!
I am so proud of myself and will never question my results again!!!
FYI if interested, the products I am using/taking are all from It Works. I am currently taking the Greens daily in either water or post workout smoothies, ProFit Protein Shakes in my smoothies, and It’s Vital Core Nutrition. There comes a time when you just have to admit to defeat. I have one week and two days until I leave and I am not any further than the 6 boxes we packed a week or two ago.
Friday is my last day of work, so this should give me a week to get some packing done. Hopefully I’ll make a good dent.
I feel so bad that the hubs will probably have to do most of the packing. It’s not what I wanted. You have read what my goal was and that I didn’t want him to have to do all of it. The sad thing, is when I was talking to the hubs about packing, I had told him that I probably won’t be able to get it all done next week and he replied with “Ya, I know.” I asked if he knew that I wasn’t going to be able to do it or that he was going to have to do most of it and he shook his head yes and said “Its fine.”
It’s so sad, that he knew he was going to have to do it. I’m going to try my best to pack a bunch of stuff next week. I need to pack for my stay in Kansas and pack the dog’s stuff, since they are coming with me. I was going to pack all of my stuff and take it with me, but that would kill my dad to have to store all my boxes at their house for a month and a half until we sign our lease. So I decided to just pack for the month. It’s still going to be a lot, but it will be doable.
That may be all that I get done. Hahahaha So sad…
